I think I have spontaneously joined a maximum of three Facebook groups since 2007. Usually they add me without almost ever asking if I agree and so I find myself in the groups: "joy & revolution", "Pro Loco Copparo" or "Adopt a 50 year old spinster.” When I am included in a group I don't get angry, I immediately silence the notifications and I have always hoped that whoever manages the platform will remedy this albeit small arrogance. Three years ago I put a link to one of my posts in a well-known group on social media marketing and, immediately, I was pointed out as the one who "spams", who doesn't follow the rules and doesn't bother to read the "netiquette" .
I apologized and from that moment on I never used the groups I was India Mobile Number Data included in to share my posts. Yesterday a friend of mine shared an article about the same group that attacked me years ago. There was also a popular uprising against her and the related deletion of the content. monkeysThe effect is similar to the controversial story (most likely a hoax) that has been going around for a few years, that of Dr. Stephenson's chimpanzees. Five monkeys were placed in a cage with a single banana. This activated a jet of cold water against the monkeys who did not reach the fruit first.
After experiencing a couple of these episodes of cold water, the monkeys would beat up any of their peers who came near the banana. Over time, the monkeys were gradually replaced and even those who had not directly experienced the jet of cold water attacked anyone who approached the fruit. A sign that a behavior learned without experience had consolidated. My unlucky friend experienced the “monkeys of Facebook groups” effect. Monkeys who first join you without your will and then give you rules citing "netiquette" . Maybe whoever attacked her had been attacked in the past himself and tried to get back at the unfortunate person. Or maybe it's little power that breeds little keyboard bullies? We will never know.
